This summer has been one of the worst in history for security lines at the airport. The TSA, apparently, doesn't have the resources to meet the demand of travelers.
It's so bad that people are missing their flights.

Summer is here -- and hopefully that means you will be spending some much-needed time in the outdoors.
However, as I recently wrote in Here's Why It's So Hard to Find Lost Hikers - And Why You Should STOP The Moment You Realize You're Lost, things don't always go as planned. Which is why I've put together this list of five pieces of hiking equipment that can save your life. They are:
It's graduation season, and I would be remiss not to recommend Andrew Yang's Smart People Should Build Things: How to Restore Our Culture of Achievement, Build a Path for Entrepreneurs and Create New Jobs in America to everyone who is graduating, or knows someone who is.
Happy Earth Day! If you're anything like me, you probably want to do a bit more to celebrate than just get outside. Perhaps you want to do something to help the environment.
I've got the perfect suggestion, and it's totally not gross at all. #ViajoSola (I travel alone) is trending on Twitter – and I happen to be traveling alone right now!
Except, as I wrote in The Best Advice EVER for People Who Fear Getting Lonely While Traveling Alone… when you travel alone, you are rarely actually alone. Take yesterday, for example. I stopped into a Dominical surf shop to rent a board, and ended up catching a ride to the beach with one of the coolest couples ever. Back in the States, they are professional sports photographers (they take photos for NASCAR and the US Women’s Soccer team)… and when they travel, their camera of choice is the Nikon COOLPIX S9900 Digital Camera with 30x Optical Zoom and Built-In WiFi. (And, because they’ve since released a newer model, it’s only $269 on Amazon!) I recently published Pearce Ferry Rapid: Then and Now, in which I discussed some awesome nonessential gear for your Grand Canyon (or, really, any) trip. I thought some of these items deserved their own post, because they are that incredibly awesome.
Without further ado: 1. Water Sports Lighted Bocce Ball Set, $49.99. Probably more suitable for rafters than kayakers, due to size constraints. But perfect for nighttime entertainment. I once wrote that Money Can Buy Happiness -- IF You Know How to Spend It. In the post, I emphasized the importance of buying experiences, rather than things.
However, here is one thing that is sure to provide an amazing experience: STEM (or STEAM) is all the rage in education these days. For good reason: the future of work relies heavily on understanding science, technology and math. Psychology research shows that early learning experiences have a huge impact on future intelligence and success -- hence the huge boom in STEM toys.
I've previously written about some of my favorite STEAM toys... but there's one item that deserves special attention:
A few years ago, I was hiking to Machu Picchu, and I realized something: "Everyone is a photographer."
It’s true. While I often complain that our electronics take us out of the moment and make us less mindful, they have also enabled us to capture the special (and mundane) moments of our lives better than ever! Which is why I think this Printerpix Faux-Mink Photo Blanket is a spectacular gift – for significant others, parents, grandparents and bffs. Or pretty much anyone you’re close to.
Valentine's Week is upon us! Love is in the air... but, for some, inspiration may be lacking. Which is why I compiled this list of amazing, experience-enabling gifts for loved ones -- especially ones who appreciate good food and drink.
Not only will you be giving your partner a gift they will enjoy, but you will also be giving them an experience the two of you can share together and remember. So! Without further ado: ***
Country Mix Sprout Kit with Organic Sprouting Seeds. In under a week, you can turn a tablespoon of seeds into a jar full or fresh sprouts. Great for salads, sandwiches, bagels, pizzas, and pretty much anything. Pair it with a silly note about how, in your relationship, what started as just a few seeds has grown so quickly to fill your life with flavor and meaning.
Kombucha Starter Kit with Organic Loose Leaf Tea and Kombucha Scoby. I've been brewing my own kombucha for about two years, and I love having a never-ending supply. Plus, I can't help but feel a little smug every time the grocery store prices go up another $.50 per bottle. Pair it with a note about how excited you are to have a weekly, low-key activity you can do together. "With you, everything -- even fermenting tea! -- is an adventure." |
About The Happy Talent - ProductsThis is just a place where I share things I like. I would never, ever recommend something I didn't genuinely love. And when you buy using my links, it helps me keep this blog going. It's a win-win!
