The Coolest Possible GoPro Accessory Lets You Simultaneously Take Photos Above and Below Water7/16/2018 Earlier this summer, I did THE MOST EPIC trip in the Lake Tahoe/Truckee part of the Sierras. And I documented it all with my HOLACA Dome Port for GoPro, which allows you to take photos and videos above and below water at the same time. Depending on the model of your GoPro (I recently inherited a 4, after my kitesurfing instructor broke my Hero 3+), dome ports can range in price from $24-$60. And you can use it to get amazing photos like this: Want to stay in cold mountain lakes longer? Look into some 1mm-2mm neoprene. I'm wearing a Billabong 2mm Salty Daze Surf Capsule with 1mm Skinny Sea Legs pants, but Roxy also makes a really cute 2mm. Other people have taken even more amazing photos and videos using their domes. You can take it on a epic trip... or just have some extra fun on a regular ol' Tuesday night. Getting ready for the Pearce Ferry Rapid. :P It's a relatively cheap accessory that will make all your water photos infinitely better. The main disadvantage is if you plan to use it for travel and are space-limited. The dome expands your lens, which is great for minimizing those pesky water droplets, but bad for packing efficiency. Not sure how to best use the dome? PolarPro has a fun little tutorial. On the fence about it? Check out my recent posts:
Though, of course, most of aren't MADE of money. If you want to have an epic time in the Sierras for less, check out Truckee Wake and Ski, where I learned to wakesurf for super cheap. (Donner Lake is also a lot warmer and calmer than Tahoe.) After your swim, hop on your bike and check out the Flume Trail in Incline Village, NV.
