You know who probably knows me better than anyone else?
Facebook. And yesterday, Facebook told me that it thinks I should try fitmob. I'd kind of vaguely heard of it before, but wasn't completely sure what it was. But they were running a great New Year's promotion, so I thought I'd check it out. Basically, fitmob is a subscription-based website/app that offers you unlimited access to local fitness classes, gyms and studios. You can search by location, time, or workout type (yoga, circuits, barre, etc.). They've gamified it to keep you motivated, and there's also a social component.
At the time of writing, fitmob is available in Seattle, the San Francisco Bay Area, Austin, Dallas, Portland, and Philadelphia.
It isn't really the kind of service I'd normally use -- I go to the gym to play basketball and climb rocks. But! My friend Emily invited me to a Barre Fusion class at her gym recently, and I actually really liked it -- I've been working on some shoulder rehab stuff since my surgery, and barre was a fun way to do a lot of the same stuff. (We talking I-T-Y's.) So I decided to try it for a month -- after all, I can't play basketball and go rock climbing every day. We will see how it goes.
Have you tried fitmob? Have a favorite gym or workout class? Let me know in the comments section!
