If Business Success is a Presidential Quality, Paris Hilton is FAR More Qualified Than Trump2/29/2016
Inspired by John Oliver's amazing segment on Donald Trump, aka Donald Drumpf (#makedonalddrumpfagain):
I thought now would be an important time to share one of the most amusing (yet totally compelling) articles I've read about Trump to date.
When asked, "Is Trump a business genius?" Kevin Flint, owner and CLO of Dystopian Studios, political scientist and former U.S. Marine, answered:
Paris Hilton only inherited $5 million, yet she created a business empire valued around $1 billion by age 30. Trump inherited over $200 million, and in decades of effort hasn't even outperformed an index mutual fund. [In case you don't know, index funds are low-risk, lower-return investments that are generally passively managed. According to the Associated Press, Trump’s net worth has grown about 300% to an estimated $4 billion since 1987. But the S&P 500 has grown 1,336% since 1988. Meaning Trump underperformed index funds by about 4.5x. Meanwhile, Bill Gates' worth has increased by 7,173% since 1988 to $80 billion, and Warren Buffet’s wealth grew 2,612% to $67.8 billion] So not only would I say Trump isn't a business genius, but Trump isn't even close to being the best business-minded reality television star. He is thoroughly trumped by a very successful woman dismissed by many as "vapid," "naive," "stupid" and far worse insults.
Hilton turns 35 this year, meaning she is now qualified to run for President. And if people consider business success a presidential quality, Hilton is far more qualified than Donald Trump. Indeed, according to 'Ditzy Blonde' No More: Paris Hilton Reinvents Herself as a Serious Entrepreneur, and Totally Crushes It, "There are now more than 45 Paris Hilton stores in more than 40 countries, Variety named her its ‘Billion Dollar Entrepreneur’ in 2011 and her fragrance collection is fast approaching a $2 billion industry — so it’s more than time to take her seriously in the category. And, yes, it’s a lot easier to make money when you start with money, but, as she pointed out when we sat down in her Beverly Hills home, she didn’t have to work at all. She has dozens of peers who, as the scions of other great industrialists, have made a career out of simply spending their family’s hard-earned wealth instead of creating some of it for themselves." That said, Donald Trump as president would be a disaster. He is a horrible, smug, contemptuous human being. When I watch him speak, I can feel him leering at me through the monitor. Him getting the nomination would be a disaster. So get on DonaldJDrumpf.com. Get your Make Donald Drumpf Again hat. Vote. And, you know: maybe instead of attacking and unfriending your Facebook contacts who support Trump... maybe be civil to them and talk about your differences.
And, if you truly believe Trump is qualified to be president, check out Confessions of an Heiress: A Tongue-in-Chic Peek Behind the Pose, by Paris Hilton, since you clearly think she should be our next president.
