Cool fact: that video is actually a replication of one of the most important psychology studies ever. Walter Mischel's Marshmallow Test measured the responses of three- and four-year-old students who were told they could either have one marshmallow now... or two marshmallows, if they could wait for five minutes. Then they were left alone with the marshmallow.

Kids playing in the streets and spending time with adults. Songs about bathing. Sketches that criticize childhood obesity. Early Sesame Street is clearly "intended for grown-ups."
The holidays are a wonderful time to gather and celebrate with family. But they're also one of the most likely times for oppressive gender norms to creep in -- and, possibly, one of the most dangerous times of the year for your daughter's (and son's!) psyche.
