Last week, Franchesca Ramsey of MTV's Decoded posted this video about why "no one" wants to date Asian men, while Asian women are highly desired, sometimes to the point of being fetishized.
Meanwhile, OkCupid has released data showing who is the most and least desired in online dating: Men don’t write black women back. Or rather, they write them back far less often than they should. Black women reply the most, yet get by far the fewest replies. Essentially every race--including other blacks—singles them out for the cold shoulder.

Are you really expressing yourself -- or are you just dressing a certain way? Are you really showing the world your true self -- or are you just putting on a performance for an audience?
When I saw #NationalSendANudeDay trending on Twitter last, I thought it was dumb and would obviously go away soon.
But it didn't, and then it trended on Facebook, too. I thought it would be a good time to remind everyone -- especially the young people: almost everyone you share a nude selfie with will show at least one (but usually multiple) other person. 5 Ways For Singles to Feel Excited, Happy and Energized (or, at least, not bad) on Valentine's Day2/12/2016
I've now written several pieces about Valentine's Day -- most of which have been geared towards couples. (See also: Why I Love, Love, LOVE Valentine's Day; How to Make Your Valentine's Day Suck Less; and The Ultimate Valentine's Day Gift Guide.)
But an anonymous Quora user recently inspire me to (finally) write that blog post for all the people who are single... and not so happy about it.
“You are so beautiful, and I am a fool to be in love with you / is a theme that keeps coming up in songs and love poems,” Billy Collins writes in Nightclub.
"There seems to be no room for variation. I have never heard anyone sing I am so beautiful and you are a fool to be in love with me, even though this notion has surely crossed the minds of women and men alike. You are so beautiful, too bad you are a fool is another one you don't hear. Or, you are a fool to consider me beautiful. That one you will never hear, guaranteed."
After YEARS of listening to people muse over who should pay for a date, I wrote Finally! A Definitive Way to Know Who Pays For The Date. In it, I propose a very simple solution:
Last week, Feministing published “Here’s What I Would Have Said To You Last Night Had You Not Cum And Then Fallen Asleep.” (It’s the kind of article you click because it has a catchy title, and then you hate yourself for it.)
In short, the author suggested that the very real and well-documented “orgasm gap” is not due to gender differences in anatomy or psychology… but due to “the patriarchy.”

Rideo, Ridere, Risi, Risus, -a, -um.
This is my favorite word ever in Latin. It's not beautiful, per se (:P), but it means "to laugh." Et amo ridere. Err... And I love to laugh. Also, because I love this word so much, I (unlike all of my non-Latin-speaking friends) have never suggested that something was "rediculous" over gchat.
Anyone I've had a longer-than-eight-minute conversation with in the last year has probably heard me say that women need to #BeRude. It's also something I've blogged about -- as per The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Gif All Women Need to See Immediately:
There are a lot of great guys out there... who are disguised as thoughtless, rude or even creepy guys. There are a lot of great guys who have problems in their dating and relationships, and they're not quite sure why. And there are guys who are doing just fine... but are always looking for ways to improve.
Part of it has to do with the fact that there's a lot of misinformation about women out there. Today, I'm going to help out by discussing six myths men believe about women, that are actually completely wrong. If I missed any, share them in the comments! |
